Sawabini voted MOA president

Members of the Michigan Osteopathic Association formally installed its 2010-2011 MOA Board of Trustees at its MOA House of Delegates meeting on May 12, 2010.  The House of Delegates meeting was held in conjunction with the MOA 111th Annual Postgraduate Convention and Scientific Seminar at the Hyatt Regency in Dearborn, Michigan.

George T. Sawabini, D.O., FACOFP, of Dearborn, was elected president of the MOA and will serve as its leader for the 2010-2011 program year.  Dr. Sawabini, a graduate of the University of Health Sciences in Kansas City, Missouri, is a family practitioner board certified in osteopathic family medicine with a certificate of added qualifications in osteopathic occupational medicine.  He is also certified by the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review.

Kurt Anderson, D.O., of Shepherd, was elected president-elect and will serve for the 2010-2011 program year.  Dr. Anderson, a graduate of the A.T. Still University – Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri, is a family practitioner board certified in osteopathic family medicine.

As a result of a resolution passed at the 2009 MOA House of Delegates, the MOA membership added two seats on the MOA Board of Trustees, both to be occupied by osteopathic medical students/interns/residents.  Filling these newly established board seats are intern/resident Draion Burch, D.O., of Detroit , and medical student Shane Sergent of Okemos.

Other members of the MOA Board of Trustees include Lawrence Abramson, D.O., of Pontiac; Edward Canfield, D.O., of Sebewaing; Craig Magnatta, of Oxford; Donna Moyer, D.O., of Perrinton, immediate past president; Lawrence Prokop, D.O., of  East Lansing; Robert Piccinini, D.O., of Macomb; Myral Robbins, D.O., of Kalamazoo; John Sealey, D.O., of Detroit; and Michael Weiss, D.O., of Troy.
